Yatha Vari Hara Pura

The monks and nuns would frequently chant the Yatha varihara pura chant for transference of merits during alms and requisites offerings. In Thai, it is known as “guat nam”. Sometimes the person would prepare the vessel to pour water used specifically for transference of merits (seen in the video below). In the case of offering of morning food alms to monks, they would usually have a bottle of water ready. They would make an aspiration to dedicate the merits from the offerings to beings such as their guardian beings, karmic creditors (เจ้ากรรมนายเวร), their parents, ancestors, family, children, etc.
