Don Meung (also spelled as Don Mueang) airport has undergo extensive renovation where there is another new terminal (terminal 2).
If you are early and want to look for a peaceful place to walk around, do head on to the new terminal:
The airport is so much brighter and no longer gloomy.
The upper floors consists of offices and a few restaurants. There’s McDonalds:

Food is a little pricey but the feedback I got is that it is delicious. We ordered vanilla ice blended…on a cool rainy day….

Parking in Don Meung airport
Even the parking area also have been renovated. It definitely look cleaner and much brighter than the previous years when I visited. But there are still limited parking place given that there are many visitors to the airport.
Prior to the renovation, the parking area was dark and very congested. When my friend picked me up from the airport, it was so overwhelming to see the cars all double parked with such narrow space. My friend was calm while I was worried. The situation looked much better with more parking space and larger areas:
