While making a stop in a rest area in Phitsanulok, I came across a shop that sells clothes, souvenirs and craft items from the various hill tribes people in Thailand. You would be able to find more and more of these items being sold as you head towards the Northern part of Thailand.
A lot of the items being sold here are handicrafts and works that are produced by the hill tribes in Thailand. The area was quiet as we were not there during holiday season or weekends. The shop assistant below was seen quietly playing music on his guitar:
The clothing designs of the hill tribes are distinct which is not similar with those in the town. I used to like to buy their little tote bags as it is small and convenient to just sling over my shoulders and it is able to fit things that I need: my purse, phone, a small notebook, pen and tissues.
Below are little cute decorations that you can hang on your bag or anywhere in your home or car.
There is a beaded blouse worn by women in the hilltribes.
And you also have skirts which the designs are inspired by the patterns from the hilltribes:
Another thing they are well known for is their beaded necklaces and accessories like earings and hair decorations. In Malaysia, I also see very similar designs from our hill tribes people.
Below are small bags and purses. They are very comfortable to hold.
It is not always you can find stores like this one above. These items can be found in the popular shopping complex and tourist areas in Bangkok but the pricing would be more expensive. By now, I am sure they would have found a way to mass produced these items but regardless, the authenticity of the design is very much maintained.
