One of my favourite Thai snack is mieng kham เมี่ยงคำ as below:
Clockwise- starting from the leaf:
- betel/sireh leaf but my host plant it by the river and it is plucked fresh
- white plate consisting of minced ginger, garlic, lemon, small green chillies
- sliced ginger- fried
- the black sweet sauce
Take everything and put on the leaf- then fold it into triangle shape and put the entire thing into your mouth and enjoy! The mixture of sweet, hot, sour and crispy creates a unique blend. It does not take much cost to prepare but it’s delicious!
You can get mieng kham from food court at shopping malls (if you are worried about getting tummy ache from roadside food).
